So, started working on this, cleaning it up yesterday. As of now, and I need to take more pics of the backside, there is no way to rotate the chuck itself, or lock it in place, if it turns out to just be frozen. No clue to the manufacturer. What I'm trying to wrap my head around , is it's usefulness between centers, without chuck rotation. Unless, a dead center was mounted in the chuck, It may be missing some parts, not sure. In the second pic, is the shop I've been dragging this stuff out of, you can sorta see on the shelves in the background the sheer amount of stuff. I would be happy to sweep the floor for what is being walked on!20230402_071904.jpg295653119_5313684428746002_3119798660114672144_n.jpg

That looks like a shoemaker's buffing, sanding, & grinding setup in the second photo. I tore one apart last year. There is some nice shafting in that rig.

That rig looks about as safe as a bucket full of hand grenades LOL
Looks like a medieval torture device- The Rack!

So, pretty sure it is supposed to rotate, oiler holes in the housing, managed to tap on the rear collar ad created a gap on the front face. The little set screw holding the collar is being problematic, along with another that holds the pivot pins on the side. I may try a little heat . 20230403_103107.jpg20230403_103153.jpg20230403_103222.jpg

The means of locking rotation on your device is very similar to that on my Kalamazoo indexer. Also, the notches and knurling on the front plate are typical Kalamazoo.

Thanks, it's taking me a little while to figure it out, appreciate the help. 20230403_124648.jpg
