Choosing a vise

To my untrained eye, the vises on either option look the same, i.e., a regular vise just bolted to a swivel base.

My question, is there any value to getting the swivel base option, or should I just go for a fixed base vise?

I have a swivel base on My vice, most of the time the base lives on the shelf, I have it on the mill currently but I can live without it and for the guys with the smaller mills it eats +/- 1 1/2" of vertical work envelope....
