The Bridgeport Cherrying heads never were very common and have been made obsolete by CNC. I did come across a great deal one one that I purchased in almost new condition with all the collets.

My question is for anyone that owns one or has experience with operating them do you have any advise, tips or tricks that will make the learning process easier?

Thanks, Joel

twist the Z-stop to take out any quill rotation movement as you move the quill up and down.
always climb cut with the end mill so it doesn't gouge into the work, especially in the bottom corner.
make sure the collet is tight enough so the end mill doesn't suck out. take light cuts.
in mold making, we used to use a cherrying head with a ball end mill to make a smaller radius in the corner of the cavity.
