I HAD A RING LIGHT ON MY MILL THAT WAS MADE FOR A DRILL PRESS .
IT WORKED OK , WAS NO BALL OF FIRE .
IN AN EFFORT TO SOUP IT UP , I ORDERED A PAIR OF 110mm LED HEADLIGHT RINGS
ON E-BAY FOR 9 BUCKS ( THEY ONLY SELL THEM IN PAIRS ) .
MOUNTING IT WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM . I DECIDED TO MAKE AN ALUMINUM RING
WITH MAGNETS TO HOLD IT IN PLACE . I CUT THE 1/2" TALL RING FROM A PIECE OF ROUNDSTOCK .
MAKING THE TREPAN CHANNEL WAS A BIT TRICKY WITH THE TOOLING I HAVE BUT IT TURNED OUT FINE . THE SLOTS FOR THE SNAP HOOKS , COUNTERBORES FOR THE MAGNETS AND
CHANNEL FOR WIRING WERE DONE ON THE MILL .
THEY HAVE A LITTLE RESISTOR CHIP INLINE THAT I DECIDED TO KEEP . THE WIRES WERE ALL SOLDERED AND COVERED WITH HEAT SHRINK . IT ALL PRESSES INTO THE POCKET .
I DECIDED TO USE A 9v AC ADAPTER INSTEAD OF 12v . IT IS PLENTY BRIGHT WITH 9 AND IT SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER ON THE LOWER VOLTAGE .
IF IT EVER DOES BURN OUT , I HAVE A SPARE .
I REUSED THE SWITCH AND COILED WIRE FROM THE OLD LIGHT .
TOTAL OUT OF POCKET COST FOR THE UPGRADE WAS $9.23 .
