Bigger Spacer On Backplate

Finally getting my sb 9" model c.
Been offered load of 4.5 and 4.75" cast backplate blanks cheap as guy ordered wrong size and was to late to return them when he realised.
I have some 5.25" chucks and also load of 6"x1" rd Ali offcuts
Can I use Ali to make adaptor to fit Chuck then fit that to backplane?

What's Ali ??? Aluminum? If so, sure. Go for it! It'll work fine.
