I DID SOME MACHINE WORK FOR A LOCAL GUY BUILDING A CUSTOM RIFLE .
HE PAID ME IN CAST IRON !

A GOOD BENCH VISE IS INDISPENSABLE AND WILTON BULLET VISES ARE SOME OF THE BEST .
THIS WILTON 600N VISE IS TWICE THE SIZE OF MY OLD WILTON .

THIS MONSTER WEIGHS 170 POUNDS !
I WILL DEFINITELY NEED SOME HELP GETTING THIS IN THE SHOP .

I GOT THE BIG WILTON IN THE SHOP BY MYSELF .
NOT SO BAD WHEN YOU TAKE IT APART & MOVE THE PIECES .

I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A 600N BUT A LITTLE RESEARCH SHOWS IT TO BE A C-3 MODEL .
THE "C" MEANS COMBINATION . IT SHOULD HAVE A SET OF PIPE JAWS ON IT BUT THEY ARE MISSING .

THE SERRATED JAWS AREN'T WHAT I NEED FOR A MACHINIST VISE SO I WILL BE MAKING A SMOOTH SET FOR IT
AND PROBABLY A SET FROM BRASS AS WELL .

HERE IT IS NEXT TO THE WILTON I HAVE USED FOR YEARS THAT I USED TO THINK WAS A BIG VISE .

You might consider making the softer jaws from copper instead of brass. It conforms and grips very well. Or the both!

A big vise alright. How wide are the jaws?
Pretty nice payday I would say!

BIG
Looks like it use to be a swivel mounted unit. But a solid mount on a pipe would really do that big boy justice.
Nice way to be paid.

COPPER SOUNDS NICE BUT I ALREADY HAVE THE BRASS .

HERE IS A SOLID BRASS BAR 6" x 2" X 24" LONG . IT WEIGHS 100 POUNDS !
NO PROBLEM TO SLICE OFF A COUPLE OF PIECES AND MILL SOME JAWS OUT OF THEM .

OK , CARRYING IT DOWN STAIRS TO THE SAW WON'T BE EASY .
