I like the way you've incorporated your original design into an off-the-shelf toolholder. Pretty slick. The only time I modded a toolholder (import) the steel was extremely hard - have you had difficulty machining them?

I've only encountered one that was too hard, couldn't touch it with HSS. All the rest have been what I would guess to be in the Rc 40-45 range. I have modified the design to minimize machining on the toolholders. It's much easier to mill the shank of the threading tool. I still have to tap 10-32 holes in the holders, which is sometimes dicey and hard on taps.
 
Here's the big boy, a special order CA with an AXA for scale. The size permitted a larger cam and 1/4" retract.
