Air ratchet drawbar

ill ask my wife. its the center of our kitchen floor. She really doesn't use it all that much anyway. ok to tell her it was your idea?

Same problem I had except I would have had to cut a hole in the kitchen floor to fit the whole head through, you just need to make a little hole.

You do point out an advantage to low ceilings though, I can reach the top of every machine and top shelf in my shop. Changing light bulbs is easy too. I never need a step stool in my shop. :)

Why not take the whole assembly, flip it over, and offset it to the side of the head. Connect the drawbar to the impact with a toothed belt. Mount a plate on the top of the mill, and use the same plate to mount the air impact, socket side up. To decouple the system, I'd use a sprag with a spring that disengages, controlled by a lever. Same mechanism in the vertical version, just inverted and offset for ceiling clearance.
