Disassembled my craftsman 3 jaw yesterday, as it seemed a bit stiff at times. I found in addition to the typical swarf that the outer couple of inches of the scroll , where it begins to taper, was chipped off. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe round off the rough end so it would engage easier with the jaw threads.

It couldn't hurt, it might work better.

On mine the last part of the scroll was fractured. So I cut the damage off and tapered the "new" end down.

Thanks Guys, I guess it is time to bring out the old Dremel.

Good one, I would never have thought of that.
