Well, I've gone as far as I can go with the 1229Q until I get a new scale and a few other tools so it's time to throuw the 1249 up for some work:
It's not in bad shape, but it needs a cleaning, lubrication and adjusting.
Gimbals are loose (someone backed the pivot screws out) tone arm doesn't move on "auto", you can feel the tone arm binding in spots as you try to manually move it, lots of dried up grease and dog hair (yes, dog hair) underneath and the needle doesn't reach the record when you drop the cuing lever.
Lots to do....nothing terribly hard, but lots to do.
