This is my 1975 Pontiac Trans AM that I am going to use as the basis for my Tribute 1970. I am closing the rear drop windshield to the 70/74 fastback

Let me walk it back. There was the 455 HO in 71-72, which was a Ram Air III based 455. Then the Super Duty in 73-74. I mistook yours for a super duty. The 1975 HO was either a 455 lo po or an olds 455 POS. So do what you want with your HO, it's not a SD. I'm just getting rusty.
Some history on this car. This car was a Florida car that was a running car. At some point it found its way to Georgia where it was a weekend drag race car with the original motor in place. That motor let go and was with replaced with a date correct (75) casted/stamped motor from a 1975 Bonny. I purchased the car from a flipper in Norwalk Conn. in 2010 running for $10.000. I drove this car for 10 years as a driver. From the very beginning I was looking for a solid body to do a trophy of my 1970 RAIII T/A Muncie 4 spd. blue on blue white stripe car, this 1975 car fit the bill even though the flooring trunk pans differ from the 1970 because of the catalyst being under the front pass. seat and the newer style rear bumper. IF this car had the original drivetrain I would not even consider what I am going to do. If I wanted I have a 13 to 1 1962 421/434 SD 4 bolt main beefed, Webbed original short block (former Brooklyn NY Pontiac dealer sponsored Swiss cheesed alum. nosed car) motor for Pontiac power. Dollar for dollar the LS6 (with many mods) is the better choice. Thanks much for your reply, Charlie

The 1970 was the best looking if you ask me. I remember something about the sail panels on the rear window interior being unique to 1970 only, they changed shape after. I feel old.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Pontiac and Camaro had the fastback from 70 to 74. 1975 was the first year for the drop rear window. the 70/73 Pontiac and Camaro used the cloth headliner using bows. 74s had the fiber board headliners but all used the same interior sail panels until 1975. The panels I am going to graft to my 1975 T/A were from a 1974 Camaro. Thanks again. Charlie. (Your not old)
 
Made a little more progress today trimming patch panel to size and fitting. The lower picture is the finished fit ready for welding. I'll do the other side tomorrow. After these are welded in I will order the rear body panel and the left/right 1/4 panel skins. I need to mod the original 1/4s to accept the new rear body panel. So I must cut the lower rear off the new 1/4s to add them to the original so the as to use the 1970 bumper and body panel. I'll post pictures to better explain. Hi, getting ready to weld in rear glass fillers. After that I'll remove the motor and trans and graft this section of donor firewall in to eliminate the air conditioning box. I also took delivery of this Good-mark rear body panel that will go in later. Next I will order the left/right 1/4 panel skins. The repair panels for the rear of the 1/4 panels available do not go up high enough to include the relocated marker lamp or the rear bumper area so I will cut the needed pieces from the new skins. I won't do any of the Bondo work until later. Thanks for looking.
