I looked at several and focused on Lumber Jocks, Sawmill Creek and Woodworking Talk.

I'm in a very different place with woodworking, than I am metalworking. I've been doing some form of woodworking since I was a child, I had a couple years of wood shop in Jr High and have continued to make stuff from wood my whole life. I don't make super high end stuff, but I do know my way around common woodworking tools and after a lifetime of working with wood I still have 8 fingers and two thumbs. I'm just beginning to move beyond the fingerpainting stage when it comes to metalwork. ;)

Ultimately I found Woodworking Talk has been the best fit for me. I wouldn't go so far as to say it is just like this site, but of the three it was the closest. A good mix of experienced and new woodworkers. More importantly it seems friendly and helpful towards the inexperienced.

The other two I mentioned were ok, not at all like the machinist site that shall not be mentioned. I found the members to be more or less friendly but the site vibe felt more elitist at the others than at Woodworking Talk.

I actually found WT from searches of reviews for tools. People asking about less expensive tools, tend to get real answers there not just the common cheap crap spend more $$$$$.
There are members running the full range of tools from Harbor Freight to Festool and experience levels from just bought their first tools to experienced professionals.

Thanks @Aaron_W I appreciate the perspective.
I'm not a seasoned woodworker though I've been around it for a fair chunk of my life. Can turn out a square cabinet but I'm always looking to improve.
I'll check out WT!

Just join a couple, try it on for size, you can get off any time. I get on them, learn a lot, get tired of the no it alls and move on. Worst thing for me is those who can’t answer my question but tell me something everybody already knows.

Sawmillcreek.org used to be excellent until they started requiring a paid membership to view any pictures. It has been in a slow decline since then. Fewer knowledgeable people post so fewer people pay for memberships and it is kind of spiraling downwards. I paid for a membership for a year then decided there wasn't enough good content to renew.
