Woodworking related, but project is all metal work.

When I started turning I wanted to turn wood too, so I got a small HSS turning set with replaceable cutters. The concept was nice, but the handle and tool was just too small for my liking, and I find that it lacks the stability and full control a full sized tool offers. That and the growing acceptance of replaceable carbide inserts tooling in the wood turning realm made me want to make my own.

While I have more complex design thoughts running in my head, I decided to start with something simple - 3 independent tools giving me 3 shaped for different applications:
  1. Radius Square for rough and general work
  2. Round for finishing
  3. Diamond for detailing and reaching in tight corners).

shanks are stainless steel (304), shaped to hold the carbide cutters which can be turned over to benefit all the cutting edges before being replaced with a new one.

This was a fun project mixing milling and filing.

Nice looking tools. Are those inserts specialized wood inserts?

theoretically yes, they are aimed at woodworking as they have no rake to them so they are ground like wooden chisels.

Excellent Sharon! making tooling is the best and that is a fine example.
