Thought I'd post up some of the projects I've been playing with.
Tail stock clamps.
I over tightened the tail stock on my Craftsman Atlas lathe. So I made some new ones from some scrap A36 steel. jutaqa8y.jpg
Black powder cannon and mounting materials.
Barrel turned on a Jet 1336 latheyvasyguz.jpg about 14" long 5/8"bore
Miniature I-beam for carriage from 3/4"x1/2" cold rolled ede7e4en.jpg

I don't remember ever hearing of someone breaking the clamp on a tail stock.

The I beam is for the gun carriage?

Yep that's me. Can break most anything. It wouldn't stay put so I gave it a bit more with the wrench.
The mini I-beams are to build a rectangular frame with vertical uprights to mount pivots on that will attach to bosses on the barrel like a old time cannon with s industrial flair. If I get a wild enough hair I might make it a rail car. Something like this. qa7e7esa.jpg
I'm also working on a barrel that's 3"x 22" with a 20"x1 1/16" bore. Still trying to figure out how to bore a 20" hole on a 36" lathe :)

Very nice cannon but, the I-beams are incredible. Can't wait to see the final product. It would need in scale rivets to complete the look. Thanks for posting your jig. Can you post some pictures of the set up? I have to make some and design something with the I-beams.

Wonderful post,
Jeff

Thank you about the I beams. They were fairly easy once I figured out the fixture to hold the material. I'll write something up eventually for ya.
