What Did You Buy Today?

my next-door neighbor lost a hen to a big hawk recently and a guinea fowl to what they think was an owl in the early morning hours.

I had an eagle land in my front yard a couple months ago, good lord it was the size of a medium dog it was huge.
Here's a couple eagles looking over the lake by the family cottage in central Wisconsin. They've had quite a comeback in the last 20 years or so. They are commonly seen on almost all the lakes and nest in some of the older trees.

I WISH lol. Why did I think I needed an acre to mow and weed and play pick up sticks with all my trees. So glad I didn't buy the 2-3 acres I originally wanted.
OT Post

First house in Pennsylvania came with 1-1/2 acres; good points:
  • Hey, I can get a riding mower!
  • Only ornamental trees in the front yard (mower mulched the leaves well)
  • Real 2-car garage, with 2 separate doors, 4' on either side of the doors & between the doors and 8' behind the cars and the back wall
  • Huge basement, 8'-8" clear
  • Giant Family Room the same size as the Garage
  • Million Dollar view from the back deck, looking over gently sloping alfalfa fields (still there, no development)
Bad Points
  • Garage was under the Family Room, which meant sloping drive and snow-drifting in front of doors (but I got a Big Snowblower!)
  • Poorly insulated and not tight
  • Electric Hot Air heat

I was handed this earlier today. No idea why it was made. Obviously someone ground a tap down, but why???

This may be pre-,1960's work. No idea for sure...IMG_20241129_082018823_HDR.jpg
