What are these blocks?

A quick bit of info first. Last night I made a trade. The gentleman was intersted in some of my music instruments and I wanted his Kurt vise(6"). He asked if there was anything else I needed as he was really keen on my m-audio venom keyboard. I told him the usual..."what ever you've got that your willing to throw in, you can never have enough tooling or materials." So, he brought the vise, some hot and cold rolled steel bar and round stock, a round bar of 6061, some files and parallells and these blocks that I have never seen as I never had a use for anything like them in my journies. I would love if someone here could enlighten me as to what they are, their application and maybe a general value(I think I did allright with just the vise so value is not that important). Much thanks.

Looks like they're locator blocks from die sets. Would have been mounted on a punch press die to locate the stock from one operation to the next.

Thanks Don, that helps a lot. It also explains why I've never run across them before. I have 22 of them in all, and absolutely no need for them...lol. Hope I can make another good trade for them, or find another use.

I have a few of those as well. and believe that they are usually shop made for specific machine/part operation. I was thinking about using them for raw material and converting them to other shop jigs/fixtures

can anyone confirm this?

I have 6 different sizes, I think I may turn them into simple 123 style set up blocks as I don't think I will get any trade offers for them. I need to get a set of hardness files to get an idea of what I'm working with before I start cutting.
