Well, well well...

Only 75 feet? You are very lucky. Wells around here are 450ft to 500ft
Jet pumps only work for relatively shallow wells- less than 100ft in general. I wouldn't consider it lucky, it's a crap technology. The submersible you use at 400'+ is infinitely preferable.

Amateurs I say. My well pump is/was at 700+. After the second time I had to pay someone (as in a crew of 3 or 4 with heavy equipment for two days) to pull and replace the pump, we moved to a rainwater collection system and I have never been happier. Things still need occasional maintenance, but now everything is above ground and easily accessible.

How big is your cistern?

I have 2x3000 gal tanks and 2x5000 gal tanks for a total of 16000 gallons. Both the house roof and the shop roof are metal of course I collect rain from them. I also collect the condensate from my 3 air conditioner units (2 in the house and a mini-spit in the shop. I get around 8-12 gal a day from condensate collection in the summer when in cooling mode.

Dang. That is a lot of water. I have two cisterns- one 1250 and one 2250. I collect no rain water yet, but I will.

Good looking FORD!!
Back in the day I could really walk the dog w/one of those units.
Started operating one when I was 13, an old Sherman unit on an 8N ford with a junky old manure loader w/a trip bucket!!
My last unit was a 1965 FORD 6500 TLB bought new w/Gannon 4 in 1 loader bucket.

That is a lot of water.
I think it is about the minimum I need to survive the Texas droughts. There are typically 3 people that live here and we use about 2000 gal a month of water when we are not being overly careful. NO outdoor watering. So we can expect 8 months of water supply if it does not rain. Since we switched over the rainwater, we have come close to running out a couple of times but so far have not run out. Right now the tanks are mostly full and rain is in the forecast. I may add another 3000 gallons at some point to give me a larger buffer.
