Yesterday I stolled over to the scrap yard and picked up some brass. I hope that you can tell something with the pics, it is hard for me to tell if something is in focus or not with this camera!
Even though this piece of brass is just a test, it still will become a part. What I can tell you is this, is that this part was cut without traming this machine and to my surprise, best I can tell, the head is .0005 out from the table. Even though this was just a test and it did remind me how much it sucks to machine on a mill manually, it turned out pretty good.
All said, as I did this, it enforced the fact, that I will be getting a power feed! What I am really impressed with is the fact that all the gibs were already set, how well trammed this machine is from the start. All cuts were done with a 1/8th endmill and 1/8th drill bit. This part is not done yet, there are some cuts that still need to be done and I will need to get a rounding over endmill and a slitting arbor to complete it. I have some valve compound and may jewel it, I have not decided on that yet.
