I just acquired a Stanley No. 34 8-inch Machinist's Level with a broken vial. Stanley has discontinued these levels, so now I'm looking for a replacement vial. Any suggestions?

The vials come in standard sizes. I love to find broken levels...I get the vial I need to replace from my local machine supply. If you can't find one or need help doing this not so hard job, PM me and we can talk.

Anyone who needs vials for levels, I can find them for you , I just need to know the ID of the tube the vial fits into and what calibration/degree of accuracy needed. All the ones I have fixed were held in place with plaster of Paris. Then you have to calibrate the level after it dries and it is reassembled. I've done a few for me and close friends. Easy and you can't buy one for that price........I have 8-10 levels for different purposes. short, long and such. The vials I have access to are in different grades of accuracy to match the marks in the base.

It looks like a Starrett vial might fit that level. You might measure yours and give Starrett a call - they are wonderful about getting parts out to customers, at least in my experience.
