I ordered a no-name power feed for the y-axis on my Kent mill. It arrived Friday, just as we were leaving to go camping. Today was install day. Installation of the feed itself was pretty uneventful. I had to massage the keyway in the bronze gear to get it to slide easily on and off, which is necessary as you adjust the clearance of the gear. The instructions made no pretense of being complete or even understandable, but they were mercifully short with plenty of color pictures. They really should just include a note which says "See Youtube for installation instructions." The original mounting holes in the machine were not clocked properly, so I had to mount the drive at an angle to clear the knee crank. It took about 2 hours to get the drive fully installed, about twice that long to work out mounting the limit switch and stops. I managed to get a fairly clean install of those while avoiding the DRO hardware. My knees hurt from all the squatting, kneeling and up and down. It's hot in the shop. Time for a nap.
