There's a Van Norman 12 in Santa Rosa. Apparently if I try to post a link, it's deemed spam..

Best offer takes it. Looks like there may even be an indexing head on the table in the pictures..

Edit: first post here, so only reasonable to point out I have no affiliation with the seller, just stumbled across it and thought somebody here may want a crack at it.

Nice, looks like a survivor in the wild. Hope someone here grabs it....

I wonder what his best offer number is?

That’s the $64,000 question. I hate “make me an offer, but don’t lo ball me”.

Yep. I hate when I have to sell and buy an item. Just tell me a number.

I was tempted to call and offer $250 and see if it's a "we just want it out of the way" deal, or if it really is more of a "give me a fair price" deal. I just don't have a day to spare to drive up in my near future

To me, "best offer takes it" cannot be low-balled. If you're making that claim, $5 may be the best offer you get - you set yourself up for it. Put a price on it if you want a number.

I for one would be very interested to see if they even respond. I’ve gotten to where if there is no up front price I don’t even bother. I can see price OBO and appreciate someone say let’s talk.

If it’s some relative with no clue expecting they are sitting on a goldmine it’s a waste of time.

If it’s somebody used the machine and loved it and can’t use it anymore and just wants to find somebody who’s going to use it and appreciate it it might be worth talking to him. I just don’t understand these folks trying to compare what something new costs. It’s totally irrelevant IMHO. I have a balance sheet in my head, will it fitin my shop? how useable is it AS IS? parts? how hard is it going to be to move? and what do I have to do to support it like the floor and electrical. All those against the asking price.

Big old iron is beautiful but has to be in very good condition and pretty cheap to offset all those parameters. I can’t afford projects that take too much time or capital. YMMV.
