Maybe a useful tip?

I like to use 1/4" HSS tool blanks for custom shapes, because there's less material to grind off compared to larger blanks.

But my AXA tool holders have a center groove, which helps locate round boring bars but makes locating a 1/4" tool a problem.

So, I made a simple adapter to bridge the groove and center the tool under the locking screws.

how many of your tool holders are the 102 type? I only have 1, the rest are 101.

Most of them. A decision I made long ago, maybe for versatility?
3/8" HSS tools and insert tooling bridge the groove.

I like it, also moves the 1/4 HSS up closer to the centerline

Elegant simplicity! I like that it raises the tool height in 101s as well. Thanks for sharing.
