Hi all,

I found an advertisement for a used Myford here in Portugal; the guy is asking 600 euros. Here goes a translation of the description:

MyFord lathe model ML7

- A set of change wheels to make threads

- Face plates

- 4 jaw 100 mm ROHM chuck, with inner and outer jaws and key

- Distance between points is more than 700mm

- Three-phase motor 380V - 1A (0.33 CV - 250W)

- Bench with Tray 585mm x 1.535mm

- User Manual in English

Given that I recently bought a used Real Bull 7 x 12, would you advise me to bargain for this one and sell the RB?

Best regards,
Jose

I know a Myford is a far better machine than a RB. Although not mentioned in the description, it appears, from the photos, to come with a division head: http://amadora.olx.pt/torno-mecanico-iid-208615579. The advertisement now reads 750 euros but I thought I had seen 600 euros before.

I have two main concerns: first and foremost, I will have to rent a pick-up and drive 400 Km each way to collect it, second, I don't have 3-phase in my garage, which means I will have to find a single phase motor. It may be possible to adapt a washing machine motor I have, if I can figure out all those wires.

Best regards,

Edited: The deal is off because the advertisement has been altered since I emailed the vendor; not only has the price gone up but there is now a note that the items in the last 3 photos are not included. I hate this sort of behaviour and I wil not do business with such a person.

I spotted another one, this time is an ML7 Tri-leva (http://www.lathes.co.uk/myfordtrileva/), the owner claims it's almost new, with very little use and he is asking 700 euros; apparently there are no accessories bundled in. What do you think?
