When the kid was delivering my mill we found this in the back of his pickup. He thought it might belong to the mill, but I don't know where. It's sideways in the picture. There's a little cup for putting in oil, the thing on top (left in the pic) rotates but doesn't seem to do anything. Any clues before I toss it?

thanks
Joe

It looks like a drip oiler to me. It does probably go on your mill somewhere. I could be completely wrong though, but thats what it looks like to me.

Hope that helps,
Chris

Well assuming the bottom part (right in the pic) screws into something, I've been looking for a similar sized threaded hole and not finding any. Where should I be looking?
thanks
Joe

DON'T toss that little jewel. It is a Trico Drip Oiler. It screws into a machine at a location thet needs oiling while running. You lift or rotate the top part to control the amount of oil that drips thru it to the machine. The smaller window is a sight window to let you see the drip. They are high dollar items on ebay, just look them up. That one is in good shape. If you do not want it PM me and tell me what you want for it.

Thanks for the heads up. The kid I bought it from brought the mill in his pickup truck in two pieces - the head w/motor and the body with everything else. This was laying in the bed by the tailgate. If it did come off my mill then I'm worried now that I'm running it without oiling something that needs oiled. I guess I'll go back out with a ladder and a flashlight so I can look in every nook/cranny of the mill for a small threaded hole....

Joe in your original post about the mill the picture shows the oiler installed on top of the head.

THanks! I didn't think to pull out the original pic. I climbed up on a stepstool and looked on top. There is a hole tapped on the top edge of the head. The oiler doesn't quite fit correctly and only threads on about 1/2 a turn. It looks like the difference between coarse/fine threads. Looking at the hole, it's obviously user-added and seems to go down through the head towards the spindle. Maybe a previous owner thought the spindle needed more oil than he could throw in from the front?

Perhaps you can find an adapter to match the threads as there may have already been one but was inadvertantly lost in the move.
