I picked up a combination 6"x48" belt and 9" disk sander for about $170 from HF. Not an ideal sander but the price was right, and the reviews of this newer sander were good. I initially wanted the Porter cable sander from lowes, but the reviews on the motor were awful. I tried it on metal and wood before I even finished the assembly and it worked good enough for my hobby shop.

Overall, I don't think it is bad for the money. Here is an unboxing and assembly video that I made.

Please ignore the mess in my shop. I still have wood and tools out from a project I was working on, and the shop was also overdue for a thorough cleaning.

Thanks,

Chris

That newer model does look to be beefier.
Going to check the local one next time and see if they have it in and check it out first hand.
Thanks for the unboxing and tips on the things to watch out for.

Thanks for the great video, well done. I have the smaller table top version of this sander and it also works quite good after some owner installed upgrades.

I have the previous version,.... It has worked good. although the switch on mine is in a dumb position. It looks like they fixed that and added the vacuum port
