Hey everyone! I picked up this collet rack from a local retired blacksmith. I don't know anything about machining, but from Google searches, I think it's a South Bend, and I'm trying to identify it more precisely. Does anyone have any ideas on age/specs/value? For better or worse, I cleaned it up and painted it (maybe I shouldn't have, I don't know).

Any idea for what size lathe? 3C, 5C? I want to resell, just looking for any identifying things to list in the posting ya know? As in how to describe it, what the different parts are referred to as. Oh, I was also wondering if anyone knew approx age or when they made this model?

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much in advance!!

Chris

Looks just like the one on my SB Heavy 10L. It's for 5c collets.

The part number on the collet rack (PT780N2) corresponds for a 3C rack for a 9".

Your 780TH2 is for a 13", 14-1/2", 16" and 16"/24" lathe. A 780L2 rack is for a 10" lathe. Don't know why there is a difference. Maybe the hole for the rack pipe is bigger.
