Truck trailer full of shop tools - $5,000 (santa rosa, CA)

WTH? Would love to know that story, but wouldn‘t touch it with a 10’ pole. So you had sketchy guys in a pickup come by your shop peddaling Carolina equipment too?

They are the notorious Irish Travellers.

A couple of them came by Fred's shop early in my apprenticeship. I was cutting stock at the front of the bay with the door up. They started giving me the song and dance about "these tools were in a show and the boss told us to sell them cheap instead of bring them back". Fred came out and ran them off, then told me they were hustlers and the tools were sh*t.

I was welding when I looked out the door of the shop to see this pickup FULL of like a big bandsaw, shop press, and engine hoist and guys hanging on to them. Reminded me of carnies. That didn’t seem to stop my FIL as all we had was a little rinkydink Craftsman 4x6 saw at the time. They still have that saw and another packing house I worked in had one too. They were ok, one step above homemade. Never heard of Travelers until the movie Snatch.

I have a friend that bought a piece of rural property with a heavy truck like that on it. It was
complete junk, so he couldn't sell it or give it away, In the end he had to pay someone to
haul it off for scrap. Maybe that's what this deal is really about.

Wow. That picture looks like my stuff coming out of storage during my last move. I wonder where the real owner is.

looking at the pic there's no real shop equipment except the tool boxes. Just a lot of junk and it might follow that the toolboxes are full of junk, or not. That truck is a mess. The trailer is a reefer...I'm sure it doesn't work but it's insulated, with side door and a lift gate. Crazy.

The liftgate alone ought to be worth a couple grand. Of course you'd have to pay to have the truck towed and have someplace to tow it to. Trailers like that have become popular for highway billboards because, having wheels, they are classified as temporary and circumvent Caltrans regs.

Yeah, details, details. The old story of cool stuff but outta room and too old :( Local guy has an old trailer that might be a 50's trailer. Converted to roll off and supposedly SS skin. Wants $4200. I'd could buy two containers for that much.
