Anyone have an inexpensive source for Torx screws?
I have a lot of carbide inserts but no screws. I'm in need of sizes from 2 mm to 5 mm. A source of metric taps would also be handy.
I've checked some suppliers the prices are ranging from $ 4.00 to $ 9.00 per screw

Thanks

Try Fastenal. They usually have a pretty good selection. Mike.

Many holders use non-standard screws, so be careful. The angle and or the head diameter is different from a off-the-shelf screw, but some will work out fine.

Very true. Pitch, height and width of head, and obviously length of thread must all be taken into consideration. Small sizes like #3 and smaller can be a PITA to match. What looks like the same might be different. I always take the screw or nut in question to the store to match up. Learned that lesson a loong time ago.

Which is why they charge $4.00-$9.00 each, and are able to get it. I usually just buy a couple of spares when I buy the holder. It doesn't hurt as bad then, and they are not obsolete, like trying to buy some for old holders.

Thanks
Never thought of Graingers, It's Called Acklands Granger here in Canada.
Ill take a look at fastenal. I plan on making my own various holders, that why I need the appropriate taps

Well I found a source here in Canada. They supply just about any size torx screw used for inserts.
The site is www.Traverscanada.com, they also have a U.S. store in New York. http://www.travers.com/
I'm going to give them try.
Papaseven thanks for the offer to help me out. I may take you up on your offer, if I'm ever in need of hard to source items.

Thanks all
