Torque Wrench Sale

Pretty sure the craftsman branded ones would compare with the horrible freight ones nowadays
:distress:

Yeah, but they happily swapped out several 3/4" breaker bars that a buddy and I wrecked when we had to change the rear tires on a tractor in a field. some idjit decided it would be 'funny' to slash the tires. Apparently with a machete or battery powered skil saw. We ended up using a rather long piece of pipe welded to two sockets as an extension to be able to reach into the rim, a hefty blacksmith hammer to apply percussive persuasion, and a blue wrench to show those dang 'haven't been off in 15 years' lug nuts that we weren't foolin'. That was the first time I've seen someone weld with a tractor battery, jumper cables, and a coat hanger. ugly as sin, but sturdy enough to do the job. Must have been 16 or 18 years ago.

some of the higher end ones are probably good.
i used an inexpensive beam type for years where the absolute torque was not critical, like on valve cover gaskets, small engine head bolts, transmission/engine pan bolts.
but i do have a couple dial type for when it's a little more precise.
i use the click type for lug nuts and flat head cylinder head torquin'

get the best you can afford and realize it's limitations,
all the best of luck
:)
