Here’s another one for you guys to help me figure out what these are for. Cast into the side is REX and stamped is 4GL and 5GL. The bases measure 1-7/8” by 5-1/2” and are 2-1/2” tall. Can’t wait to see what you’ll think these are. Thanks

hmmmm...............
the two black "button-head" inserts look like drill bushings.
the rectangular nut must ride in a slot in something
so I'm guessing some kinda adjustable drill jigs
For what? I dunno, ski bindings? 80/20 corner joint connectors? no idea!

...but note also the steps in the one corner of the square top piece.... that's gotta be for something specific.

Good Luck!

Thinking out loud here.

What you're calling GL looks like CL to me. Could it be a Carr-Lane trademark?

If it is Carr-Lane, that implies that they are (were) a commercially available casting that one could modify to suite. In this case, they do look like drill jigs. On the other hand, the clamp held by a bolt, isn't what I would call a 'production' arrangement because it would be so slow to loosen and tighten. It could have been adequate for a limited use purpose.

You may be on to something, The one stamped "E" would most likely be Enfield. I am just not seeing in my mind how these are attached, There must be another fixture that these bolt to.
I really don’t think they are for drilling scope mount holes because there is no provision for the rear hole(s). If they are, they’re for magnum, standard, and small actions.
The rectangular piece threaded onto the bolt looks too large to fit in the raceway of a rifle for mounting. But I believe they are a jig for drilling some specialty item that comes in 3 sizes. (Isn’t that obvious? )

That 'key' looks like it could slip into the lug slots in a bolt action. BUT it appears the reference surface is at 90* to where the holes are drilled... Unfortunately I cannot come up with a better guess.

My Forster Sight jig only has a sliding hole jig with 2 holes only. You just drill the rear holes separately. I have had mine about 15 years, It looks like they have 3 holes in them now, But you still need to slide the hole jig to the rear to drill the rear holes. My two hole jig has been able to do every rec I have done including rem 760 that have four holes.
