This might be the one.

You're going to be told that its all about what you intend to do with it, which is exactly right. We can't help without detailed information on condition, use, and what it comes with.

Seems like a pretty good deal. The only thing it’s missing is cross feed. The thing this has is quite a bit of nice tooling. The new version has DRO.

Disclaimer: I'm a newbie - no experience, so my opinion may actually be worth less than your paying for it.... That said, I've been looking at machines and adds for about a year now, and practicing analyzing them.

Here's how I analyzed the add you posted.
Your desire is a PM 10-30 sized machine - This machine is 10-22 That's ~25% shorter, but has the same swing
This machine is $1400 asking, presumably within driving distance, no tax
- new G0602 costs $1550+ shipping + tax, includes 1 year warranty
- a new PM 10-22 costs $2300 + 200 shipping + tax, includes 3 year warranty comes with QCTP
The add mentions $1000 worth of tooling, see pictures. Not seeing $1000 of tooling
- has 3 and 4 jaw chuck and back plate - all included with PM 10-22 and with the grizzly
- has steady and follow rests, & dead centers - included with PM 10-22 and the grizzly
- has AXA QCTP and holders - $150 new from PM (included with PM)
- Has turning/boring bars - $160 new from PM
- Has keyed and keyless chuck - ~$150
- has some Highspeed tool blanks and extra turning tools - <$100
- stand isn't really worth anything, cover isn't really worth anything, but are kind of nice.

So, as far as I can tell, it has about $500 worth of tools, not $1000. So, he's offering a used machine at $150 off list price, and $500 of tooling he has no use for once the machine is gone. Is it a bad deal? No. If the machine is in good shape, the only thing you loose is a 1 year warranty you don't need (again, assuming the machine is in good working order) and you save shipping, taxes, and get some tooling. Is it a great deal? Not really. My rule of thumb for used is 50% retail or less. For that, this machine would need to be about $1000. Then it would be a great deal.

If you are willing to go with a smaller machine (10x22 instead of 10x30), why not offer him $1000 cash and see what he says. If you end up at $1250, you got a pretty good deal, even if not a great one.

Best of luck.

As long as the machine is in perfect working condition, I'd offer $1,200 and see what happens.

I'm with armydoc, I don't see the price being worth buying used. I got my G0602 Z (with DRO's) new/delivered for 1800, your getting some tooling extra's here, but just say that equates to the value of the DRO's. Unless you can talk him down......

I agree with the comments here Dhal. As others have pointed out, the extra tooling is not worth the $1000 that he claims. I have a PM1022 (which is too small for me) and I will have to say that having the power cross feed is very nice to have. Facing a piece of stock leaves a nice finish compared to me trying to have a consistent hand feed rate vs the power feed.

Thanks everybody. This was sold before I ever got a chance to view it.
