OK, it's time for a little humility. Every one has done it...no one can deny it. At some point we've all done something really stupid while machining. Maybe it resulted in a scrapped part, broken tool or damaged a machine, but hopefully it was injury free. Anyway, this is the time to get it off your conscience by admitting it to everyone. I'll start...I'm not proud.

I was setting up a large CNC mill and had just set the 6" vice on the table when I received a phone call. I answered the phone then got back to work and finished setting up the machine, but completely forgot to bolt the vise to the table. The first part of the program was to face the top of the steel part with a 4" face mill. It picked up the part and vise (they weigh close to 100 pounds) and literally threw it off the machine. It landed on the floor about six feet away. The guy I was working with briefly looked up but never said a thing. :o

Phew, I feel much better now.
