I am trying to build a Clough 42 ELS on my Eisen 1340GHE lathe, using a Teknic SDSK 23 servo motor.

I installed the motor to the lead screw and auto-tuned it and now it spins smoothly under power (meaning through the ClearPath MSP tuning software), but I cannot wire it properly to the ELS Board.

The Clearpath is set to 1800 pulses per rev (able to do 6400 but the ELS config upper limit is 2000, through a "sanity check"). I can enable/disable the servo motor by powering on/off the ELS board. The motor does not spin however in response to the encoder signal. The Omron encoder I am using does 2000 p/r so I set in the config for 8000. I can wiggle it by hand and it does "see" the rpms, but the servo does not turn:

Wiring
The Clearpath wiring from the manual is:

The ELS outputs from the Clough github wiki is:

Basically the Clearpath Enable (+), Dir (+) and Step (+) are all connected together and I feed them from the ELS PCB (+). The Step (-), Dir(-) and Enable (-) are all individually wired. I left the alarm outputs unconnected (is that a problem, perhaps?).

Can anyone suggest a wiring fix? Hopefully the Teknic support engineers or anyone else with experience will see this and comment. Grateful thanks to all.

Hi Koenbro,

We are just seeing your posts now. That said, it looks like you were able to figure out the appropriate settings in your controller to get your system working properly.

In the future, if you have questions related to Teknic's products, please reach out to us directly. You can call us at 585-784-7454 or send an email at https://teknic.com/contact/.

Best regards,

Mark D - Teknic Servo Engineer

Thank you Mark. I am, again, impressed with the support from Teknic.
