I don't personaly own one (maybe someday) but I use the HLV-H model at my work. I believe it was assembled in either the late 70's or early 80's and I'm looking for a taper attachment.
I've done some looking around and have not had much luck finding one. So I figured I could ask the question here:
Does anyone know where one can be purchased or even know of some drawings/prints that I can get a hold of to make one?

my guess is that by the time you find one, you probably wont wanna pay the price. Seems pretty easy to make though. found these pics of an HLV that should give enough detail to figure it out. That T-slot on the back of the bed makes it even easier than most. A nice piece of angle iron, a short length of linear rail with a mating truck from ebay and your well on your way.

Wait a few days. I'm almost finished building my version of the one that Ron posted above. I'll be posting the details, complete with changes from the original design.

I doubt you'll ever find one used, since most would stay with the lathe.

However: I have one and there isn't all that much to them. If you want to build one I could take a bunch of pics and a few measurements for you. I'm not going to disassemble the thing so you'll have to use your imagination to figure out what's going on inside, but its a pretty basic design.

I'll be looking forward to that as it is on my list of "things to build".

Mike,
I'll wait and see what you have.

I'm working on the last piece. There will still be some calibrating to do, but I'll post before that. Busy tomorrow night, so a couple more days.

You can find taper attachments, but they usually want about $800.00 for a used one. I have an HLVH. Their taper attachments(both models) are extremely simple. They bolt into the rear T slot, and you just loosen a bolt on the cross slide to free up the nut so you can use the taper attachment. Hardinge lathes are the easiest, most nicely engineered lathes to use. My problem is that my rear T slot is half covered by a digital read out. Otherwise,I'd have already made the attachment for my lathe.
