Hi all,
Not quite the right spot for this but I wanted a quick answer and I didnt want this to get lost in my lathe rebuild post.
On the "take up nut" on the spindle of my hercus 9" the face that pulls up against the headstock has a 5 mm dia. hole about 4mm deep drilled in it. Any idea why this may be here?
Also, the "take up washer" as found with this lathe has a papery texture. I am inclined to think this is probably not correct as I wouldnt have thought it would stand up to the continual rotation friction? Should it be replaced with a metal washer?
Bear in mind for those that may not have been following my rebuild thread, that this lathe was purchased as a basket case in pieces and is made up of at least 3 different machines.
Cheers Phil
