I've used Touch DRO on my dad's mill for the last 4-5 years. I recently picked up a mill with an ancient DRO, and plan to upgrade.

What happens when the screen is larger? Do I get larger text, or do I see more features and buttons? Is there a max size that makes sense? A 10" Amazon Fire tablet is cheap, and they go on sale all the time.

Both. Text and buttons scale up, but it's driven by tablets font size so you can tweak the sizes. Larger screen is easier to use in projection view mode. You can have all three axis buttons and the sub-datum panel showing at the same time on a larger screen. Function dialogs fit better, especially in "advanced" mode.
10" is a sweet spot, IMHO. I have mine in portrait mode, so I can use the graphical view and still have dro display on screen.
On a lathe 7" is OK. Larger than 10" the price jumps significantly, so it depends on your budget...

Thanks for the quick answer. So happy to see the software on the Fire store,

I'm a huge fan of the project, and really appreciate all the work that goes into it.
