When I got my Hairg 612 a few months ago, it came with a Vac-u-Guard wheel guard.
It also came with a Harig Accu-Dresser, which is a wheel dresser that mounts above the spindle.
Unfortunately, the one is not compatible with the other. The dresser is particularly attractive since it doen't require changing the grinding settings to re-dress the wheel. I looked at modifying the guard to allow use of the dresser, but it just wasn't possible. I also determined that the Vac-u-guard was not particularly effective when grinding steel. It appears they are most useful when grinding graphite.
I inquired about an original replacement guard from the Harig parts distributor. It also was not compatible with the Accu-Dresser and, at more than 1.5x what I paid for the grinder, not a candidate regardless. I decided to make my own. At first I was considering making a welded aluminum assembley. Then I realized I had an unused "Westlake" style guard for a bench grinder.
It took significant modifications,
but in the end I have a wheel guard that allows the use of the dresser.
Enough fooling around, time to get back to work.
