strange tools ??

They appear to be shock absorbers to cushion the closing action of mating parts, such as molds used in the pastics industry for high speed blow molding. Do they have a piston that moves in and out?

The shaft moves in and out 5/8in with an adjustable spring
tension. The other end appears to have a sight glass on it but
nothing comes out. It is solid plastic. Snugrat :headscratch:
