Steel wood lathe faceplates

Sherline has there own aluminum faceplate. But I was wondering if anyone has tried to use one of these on a Sherline:

It looks like some material might need to be removed from the back. In itself not a big job if you have a larger lathe.
Isn’t the sherline’s spindle threads M14x1.0?
The linked faceplate is 3/4”x16tpi.

Of course it can be adapted , just a point of information.

You could probably thread it onto the spindle face first and then remove the excess material from the back side.

In the video it says the faceplate steel is not free machining.

Yep. I had thought of that.

Even if it's not free machining, you finish it off with a file, or sandpaper. Or even a Dremel with a stone. You could probably afix a moto tool to the c/s with comparative ease.

I had to face material off of 3/4-16 to 1-8 adapter so there would be sufficient thread engagement on my Sherline RT chuck mount:

So this faceplate would probably need the same modification.
