Hi

I already tried enco with no luck. I need a holder for my test indicator that will allow me to sweep the table and check for spindle to table squareness. I have .250 drill rod to make the bent piece to place the indicator at one end. My stem with a pivot is 5.3 mm in diameter
.

any help would be appreciated,

regards,

jon

I'm not sure I can visualize your problem but maybe I had a similar one. I've bought various indicators at auctions. They all seem to have different diameter stems. So do my bases. I used the well documented instructions at
HTML:
http://www.deansphotographica.com/machining/projects/indicatorstand/indicatorstand.html
to allow mixing and matching of bases and indicators. I made an assortment of 1/4" drill rod extensions and then used these instructions to make the holders. Modified to accomodate my grab bag devices. I found this to be a good novice level project.

The body of the last word is 3/8” so you use ¼” rod and a ¼”x3/8” snug clamp.
And there is no need to try to use the end stem.

I would drill and tap the end of the .250 rod for an 8 32 screw. After bending it I would cross drill for the stem and use a 8-32 thum screw to hold it.

where is the best place to get a .250 by 3/8" snug clamp?
