I took the spindle out of my jet-1024 to clean and replace the belt. According to the manual I found here titled Manual_Jet-Lathe-1024P(S)-&-1236P(S) it says the seal #25 (inner one in from the chuck) on the diagram is 60x70x9 but the one I took out says 55x70x10.
Anothe manual I found @Jet Lathe 1024P(Y) 1236P(Y)” has that seal listed as 55x70x9. I’m thinking the 60x70x9 was a misprint? Should I order the 55x70x9 even though I took out a 55x70x10mm?
Lastly they give two different belt sizes in that manual for the spindle. #33 on the diagram has b43 hand written but below on the part number lust it has B33 written. Which one? The belt I have now is destroyed. Are the power link belts any good?
thanks for any info.

There was a fair amount of variation in the Jet 1024 lathes. Since you have what was in there, I would just get a replacement for it. I've seen them with both 4.5MT and 5MT spindles. My Jet-1024p is a 4.5MT. The 60x70x9 might be for the 5MT spindle.

Ok sounds good. Thanks

if you removed a 55,70,10 seal, i'd replace it with the same, unless all that was available is the 9mm width,
resist the temptation to drive the seal beyond flush

i have the HF link belt on me 1236 at home, it works ok-
feels like you need to put a lot of tension to have them drive correctly, but they work

Seals and bearings often have a universal number that is not specific to a brand. Bearings and seals are the only products that I know of with this universal labeling system. If you can find a number on a bearing or seal, then it is likely that any bearing supplier can match it.
