Hey guys I've got an atlas 10 that I've been messing around with and the gear furtherest from the chuck on the spindle moved on me. I'm not sure once it's set in place what locks it there any help would be appreciated.

Spindle gear issues

If I remember correctly, there should be a stop collar with a set screw to the left of that gear. Once you get the gear back in place, slide the stop collar against the gear and tighten the set screw in the collar. Sometimes the set screws work loose.

Great thank you for the help I have been concerned how to fix this for some time now just haven't had time till now to dig into it.

Would a dab of blue Loctite be a good choice on the set screw?
Or would that potentially cause bigger headaches down the road?
Blue Locktite could be applied, if the screw and the threaded bore in the stop collar were clean and dry with no oily film.
Later removal could be make easier by gentle application of heat from a heat gun, NOT A TORCH! The threads in both the screw and collar would need to be cleaned of any residual debris before re-application of the blue Loctite.
I think it is just as easy to go around the machine periodically with a small screwdriver and check the set screws and stepped pulley oil hole plug. I get a more intuitive felling of how the machine is behaving that way.
