Spindle dial springs

my pm-25mv has two of the small curved springs that add tension to the dials broken
is there something i can substitute or should i just add a thumb screw

Why not get the correct springs from PM and replace them?

You can use a piece of spring steel and cut it to length then bend it or you can get by with just a mild steel piece of sheetmetal bent to the same shape.
