Spindle bearing lubrication

Good evening .

I am in the process of replacing the bearings in my 2J head.
Looking on line I have seen a bit of discussion about the lube system and what grease to use. Also to use or not to use spindle oil.

I will be ordering the H&W spindle repair kit. You can get open or sealed bearings. I have not decided what I am going to order as of yet.

What have you done for spindle bearings and spindle lube in your machines.

I use spindle oil in BP clone

I'd say if your machines set up with oiler cups or holes use them regularly . Replace with sealed bearings not in my shop , I've seen so called lubed for life bearings fail three times faster then open and lubed. Your machine may have not been maintained well or correctly. As for my machines I'd rather wipe oil drips then tear down the head.
