I have been looking around for a hobby-grade bench mill ( 300 ~ 500 lbs ) recently and none of the mills I have come across have spec on precision. Today I approached a manufacturer in China and they are open enough to provide this spec. Does this look decent ? I am wondering how it compares with reputable mill of the same class like the PM 728VT.

Personally I don’t believe any spec. There is just too much variation in QC in Chinese machinery to rely on any manufacturer specs.

Most of us hobbyists weigh all the factors of design vs cost. If it costs more it should be of better quality. Some of us treat the whole process as buying a kit. If the parts are of decent quality and just need better fitting and finish to get higher precision we spend the time and effort. All of this can only be accomplished with direct inspection and testing.

My criteria may not be your criteria. I would look at how reputable the manufacturer is. How long have they been around and how good is their support and warranty.

If it costs more it should be of better quality.

There are plenty of cases where that simply is just not true. You may want it to be true, but sadly it is not.

As always it is Caveat Emptor or in English "Buyer Beware". Know what you are buying and pay accordingly.
