Southbend collet problem

I just bought a 16 pc Southbend spring collet set from Grizzly - product # SB1349

I must be a complete idiot because for the life of me, I can't get these things to come out of the spindle without either half beating the crap out of the side of the chuck/holder with a plastic dead blow hammer, or getting a bronze punch on the edge of the actual collet and giving it a belt. I thought these things were supposed to be easy release. There's no slot to get a wedge into, so that's not it. Am I missing something ? If not, I've got a brand new set of these for sale because I'm going back to my old 5C collets. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

EDIT: Just to per 100% clear on what I've got, here's a picture of the style of collets...AKA - ER type

Ok...disregard. Answer found....I wish this set had come with some kind of instruction sheet. LOL. I was putting the collet into the chuck/holder, THEN screwing on the nut. The collet must be placed in the nut FIRST...then the whole thing gets screwed onto the holder. :) See the pictures half way down the page.

One would think they would include instructions. I have used that style before, they are nice chucks.
