Both myself and my buddies are often cobbling up gizmos using wheels, pullies, axles ect that weren't originally engineered to go together. Sometimes these parts have different sized keyways and not enough meat to enlarge the smaller keyway to match. I made a little fixture to hold a key so I could machine half of it to a smaller size while leaving the big half untouched. I discovered it's also a great way to machine front sights from scratch.
