i am rebuilding a 10 inch band saw and i would like to put one of the replacement lathe dc motors that i used to see advertised but i can't seem to find one. they were around $120.00. any ideas?

Just purchase an old treadmill and take out the motor and control board out of it. Otherwise go on ebay and buy them seperate.

Penn State Ind has a variable speed DC motor that is used as a conversion kit for small wood lathes for $119.95 plus shipping. I've seen it used on a small Rikon woodlathe. Works but has a bottom speed of 650 rpm. Web site is www.pennstateind.com

Maybe that would be an option for my Oliver instead of a 3 phase motor and VFD, I I could find a tread mill cheap.
Is there a best brand of tread mill to use for the conversion?
