Slitting saw - depth of cutting

I have got some carbide slitting saw blades. Works well but I have never been sure about the optimal depth of cut. According to the Chinese manufacturer, the smaller the diameter, the less the max depth of cut. E.g. a 40 mm diameter blade can cut only 3 mm deep, 50 mm blade can cut 5 mm, 70 can cut 10 mm and so on. I can't figure out the reason behind. Can anyone shed some light onto this ?

I use HSS blades and take cuts as deep as the arbor allows. There is no limitation on depth of cut based on saw diameter that I'm aware of and I've been cutting like this for decades.

/\/\/\ . I agree . The top arbor or the bottom nut is the limiting factor for DOC . Conventional cut with plenty of oil .

Old adage is to bury the teeth in the part with lots of cutting oil/coolant.

If your DOC is too great you will get packing of chips in the gullets. Either reduce DOC or the feed rate.
