That's an odd sine plate. It has no round rod on the movable end, not sure how you would set it. Maybe you have to add your own rod.

I can't really tell on the images but it MIGHT. I've seen sine plates in the past where the rod is quite short. If you see the 3rd image there is a plate on the bottom that looks like the precision contact surface. I'd suspect that the round part is just wide enough to hit that.
